BO7 Season 02: Ranked Play, New Maps & Warzone Changes

March 11, 2026

Black Ops 7 Season 02 Is Live — Here's Everything You Need to Know

The February 5, 2026 update drops a massive Season 02 across multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies. The headline features are the official launch of Ranked Play with CDL settings, four new multiplayer maps, two new guns in the Battle Pass, and a brand-new competitive BR mode called Iron Gauntlet. Let's break it all down.

Ranked Play Is Finally Here

The competitive community has been waiting, and Season 02 delivers. Ranked Play launches with full CDL rule sets and competitive matchmaking, backed by RICOCHET anti-cheat enforcement that specifically targets Cronus and XIM devices.

Key details for the ranked grind:

  • Stay With Team — Available for Diamond rank and below, letting you run it back with randoms who actually communicate.
  • Vote to Forfeit — Available at any point in the match. No more suffering through a 3v4 for the full duration.
  • Iridescent/Top 250 matchmaking — The highest-tier players will be matched together more frequently, with anti-teaming detection to keep the ladder clean.

This is a strong foundation. The Stay With Team feature for lower ranks addresses one of the biggest pain points from previous CoD ranked systems, and XIM/Cronus enforcement signals Treyarch is serious about competitive integrity.

Four New Multiplayer Maps

Season 02 adds four 6v6 maps, including a fan-favourite remake:

  • Torment — A psychological horror-themed map with tight corridors and vertical elements. Expect SMGs and shotguns to thrive here.
  • Sake — Set in a Japanese sake factory divided into three distinct zones: Production, Depot, and Steaming Room. The three-zone layout should create natural lane structure for objective modes.
  • Nexus — A subzero testing facility mixing open sightlines with tight spaces. Also playable in 2v2, so expect it in the Gunfight rotation. The mixed engagement ranges make this an AR-friendly playground.
  • Slums — The iconic Black Ops 2 classic returns. If you remember holding down the Plaza or the Electronics shop, it's all back.

New Weapons: REV-46 and EGRT-17

Two new primary weapons arrive via the Battle Pass, and both look like they could shake up the meta:

REV-46 (SMG)

Firing at a blistering 1,111 RPM, the REV-46 is now the fastest-firing SMG in the game. Full-auto with that rate of fire means it will shred at close range, but expect significant recoil and ammo consumption. This gun was made for maps like Torment.

EGRT-17 (Assault Rifle)

This one's interesting — it fires superheated ricocheting rounds and boasts the second-highest fire rate in the AR class. The ricochet mechanic could be a gimmick or a game-changer depending on how reliably it works in corridors and around cover.

Also arriving this season: the H311-SAW melee weapon (a rotating saw with more damage and range than standard knives) and the GDL Havoc grenade launcher with sticky grenades and remote detonation, unlockable through a Week 1 event.

Warzone: Rebirth Island Refresh and Iron Gauntlet

Warzone gets meaningful updates alongside Season 02.

Rebirth Island Winter Refresh

Two new POIs reshape the map:

  • Turbine — A massive new structure at the center of the map, likely becoming the new hot-drop contested zone.
  • Outpost — A new location on the south side of the island.

The Biometric Scanner has also been refined with better loot balance and visual clarity.

Iron Gauntlet (Beta)

This is the competitive BR mode many players have been requesting. Here's what makes it different:

  • Faster circle collapse
  • Rarer loot spawns
  • Higher player HP
  • No free loadouts
  • No Gulag

It strips away the safety nets and forces gunfight wins with ground loot. The higher HP paired with rarer loot creates a genuine survival dynamic.

Other Warzone Changes

  • Loaded Resurgence (Weeks 1-2): 44-player Quads on Rebirth where you deploy with loadouts and earn perks through eliminations.
  • Buy Station updates: Advanced UAV is now purchasable for $40,000, while Specialist pricing has increased to $35,000.

Zombies Gets a Mars Survival Map

Zombies players get a new Mars Survival Map set in a temple among alien sands, featuring Pack-a-Punch, Der Wunderfizz, and the Mystery Box. A new Cursed Survival Mode adds a hardcore twist: pistol start, limited HUD, and the classic BO3 points system across all four survival maps. New endgame abilities — the Sentinel Protocol robot and Blood Burner — round out the Zombies additions.

What This Means for the Meta

The REV-46's 1,111 RPM fire rate is going to dominate close-range engagements until we see the full damage profile and recoil data — expect it to be the first gun everyone levels. The EGRT-17's ricocheting rounds could carve out a niche on tight maps like Torment and Sake. In Warzone, the Specialist price hike to $35K and the removal of free loadouts in Iron Gauntlet signal a push toward more gunfight-dependent gameplay. Ranked Play's anti-Cronus enforcement is the most promising quality-of-life change this season. We'll have updated tier lists on metaradar.gg as the weapon data comes in.
