S02 Reloaded Meta Shift: M15 Nerfed, MK.78 & Peacekeeper Rise

March 11, 2026

The M15 MOD 0 Era Is Over

If you've played any Black Ops 7 multiplayer or Warzone in the last few weeks, you already know the M15 MOD 0 has been everywhere. It was the undisputed king of the AR class — reliable damage, excellent range, and easy-to-control recoil made it the default pick for players at every skill level.

Season 02 Reloaded changes that. Treyarch has hit the M15 with a meaningful nerf package that chips away at its core strengths:

  • Max damage reduced from 33 to 32
  • Max damage range shortened from 45m to 38m — a 7-meter cut
  • Medium damage dropped from 26 to 25
  • Monolithic Suppressor bullet velocity bonus halved (20% → 10%) and damage range bonus cut from 12% to 6%
  • Bowen Linchpin Stock recoil control reduced from 15% to 10%

That range reduction is the big one. Losing 7 meters off your max damage envelope means the M15 will now require an extra bullet to kill in engagements where it previously dominated. Combined with the attachment nerfs to two of its most popular builds, the gun drops from S-tier to a more balanced position. It's not unusable — far from it — but it's no longer the automatic best choice.

The devs even swapped the M15 out of the default Commando loadout in favor of the Peacekeeper MK1. That tells you everything about the direction they're pushing.

The MK.78 Becomes a Warzone Monster

The biggest winner of this patch cycle is the MK.78 LMG, especially in Warzone. This gun received a comprehensive buff package that addresses nearly every weakness it had:

  • Max damage increased from 35 to 36
  • Vertical recoil reduced by 8%
  • Horizontal recoil reduced by 12%
  • Recoil deviation reduced by 15%
  • Bullet velocity boosted from 910 to 930 m/s
  • ADS speed improved from 290ms to 270ms
  • Movement speed increased from 4.4 to 4.6 m/s

That's a damage buff, a massive recoil overhaul, faster handling, and better mobility all in one patch. The MK.78 was already a sleeper pick for long-range engagements, and now it has the consistency and speed to challenge ARs at medium range too. In Warzone specifically, expect this to become a top-tier primary.

Peacekeeper MK1 Steps Into the Spotlight

The Peacekeeper MK1 is the other big mover. It received targeted buffs that improve its performance at range and make it significantly easier to control:

  • Minimum damage raised from 21 to 22
  • Horizontal recoil reduced by 10%
  • Vertical recoil reduced by 8%
  • Multiple attachment buffs across the board

With the M15 losing range effectiveness and the Peacekeeper gaining accuracy, the gap between these two has closed dramatically. The Peacekeeper was always a solid all-rounder — now it has the numbers to back up that reputation.

SMG Shake-Up: Kogot-7 Leads the Pack

The SMG class sees its own shifts. The Strumwolf 45 catches a nerf (max damage range cut from 13.2m to 12.2m, headshot multiplier reduced), while several competitors get meaningful buffs.

The Kogot-7 stands out with a damage increase (32 → 33), extended range (12.5m → 13m), a fire rate bump to 968 RPM, and faster ADS at 160ms. That's a stronger TTK across the board.

Other SMGs worth revisiting:

  • Carbon 57 — extended medium damage range and improved upper torso multiplier
  • Dravec 45 — range and damage buffs plus a better torso multiplier
  • Razor 9mm — max range extended to 13m

Meanwhile, the new REV-46 was immediately nerfed after launch. Its 1,111 RPM fire rate made it oppressive at close range, so Treyarch reduced its range, medium damage, headshot multiplier, and added recoil with slower ADS. It's still fast, but no longer a no-brainer.

Other Notable Changes

  • XM325 (LMG): Damage, recoil, and ADS buffs make it a viable alternative to the MK.78
  • MXR-17 (AR): Min damage buffs in both MP and Warzone plus faster bullet velocity and reload
  • SG12/Echo 12 (Shotgun): Significant nerfs to range, damage, and pellet spread
  • M8A1 AutoStrike (Warzone): Recoil increased 20% and bullet velocity benefit removed
  • Swordfish A1 (Marksman): New 4-round burst marksman rifle with fast cycle time and minimal recoil — worth testing
  • Voyak KT-3 (AR): New high-damage, slower fire rate AR with a unique digital crosshair showing target distance

What This Means for the Meta

Season 02 Reloaded is a genuine meta reset. The M15 MOD 0 drops from its dominant position, and players now have real choices. In Warzone, the MK.78 is likely the new best-in-class for ranged engagements. In multiplayer, the Peacekeeper MK1 and Kogot-7 are the guns to build around. If you've been running the same M15 loadout for weeks, it's time to hit the gunsmith.
