Black Ops 7 Meta Snapshot — March 14, 2026
The current Black Ops 7 meta is remarkably compressed. Only 2 weapons hold Meta tier status, while a massive pool of 20 weapons sit in Very Good — making this one of the most balanced (and competitive) weapon metas we've tracked in a while. Assault rifles continue to define the landscape, but LMGs and even a marksman rifle are carving out space in that Very Good bracket.
Let's break down what's working right now, with the exact TTK figures and builds from our live database.

Assault Rifles Still Run the Show
Assault rifles account for the majority of the top 10 weapons we're tracking, and the TTK spread across them is surprisingly narrow. Two ARs tie for the fastest close-range TTK in this group:
- AK-27 — 261ms close-range TTK
- Maddox RFB — 261ms close-range TTK
Both sit in Very Good tier, and both kill in identical time up close, but their builds diverge significantly. The AK-27's Long Range build leans on the Eclipse 7.62 Brake, Lateral Precision Grip, Czar Control Grip, Pugil Heavy Stock, and Buffer Spring — a recoil-control-heavy setup that suggests it needs help staying on target at distance. The Maddox RFB, meanwhile, runs a VAS 5.56 Suppressor with a Fang Hoverpoint Elo optic, VAS Drift Lock Foregrip, Furrow Control Stock, and Buffer Spring — a suppressed build that favours stealth alongside stability.

Right behind them, the EGRT-17 and DS20 Mirage post near-identical TTKs of 296ms and 297ms respectively. The 1ms gap is statistically negligible — in practice, these two perform almost identically in a straight gunfight.
The EGRT-17's Long Range build runs the Redwell Shade-X Suppressor, Bowen Sentry Foregrip, Nanite Grip, Frigate Control Stock, and Buffer Spring. The DS20 Mirage takes a different approach with a Greaves Accuspot 3x optic, Redwell 5.56 Compensator, 17.1" Abdicator Barrel, Griffon Reserve Extended magazine, and 5.56 NATO Overpressured rounds. That extended mag and overpressured ammo loadout makes the DS20 Mirage likely more forgiving in prolonged engagements.

The Rest of the AR Field
| Weapon | Close TTK | Tier | |---|---|---| | AK-27 | 261ms | Very Good | | Maddox RFB | 261ms | Very Good | | Peacekeeper Mk1 | 276ms | Very Good | | EGRT-17 | 296ms | Very Good | | DS20 Mirage | 297ms | Very Good | | M15 MOD 0 | 312ms | Very Good | | X9 Maverick | 376ms | Very Good |
The Peacekeeper Mk1 at 276ms is a strong middle-ground pick. Its Long Range build uses a Kuhn Ported Comp, Quickstep Foregrip, Vulcan Reach Extension magazine, MFS Counterforce-C1 Stock, and Redwell Tactical Laser — the laser attachment is unusual among the top builds and hints at an ADS-speed focus that could reward a more aggressive playstyle.
The M15 MOD 0 at 312ms is the slower of the competitive ARs but runs a "Best Build" variant rather than a pure Long Range setup, using the 16.5" Fusion Barrel and Wander-3V Stock. It likely trades raw kill speed for handling or versatility.
The X9 Maverick at 376ms is the outlier. That TTK is significantly behind the other ARs — 115ms slower than the AK-27 and Maddox. It currently occupies the bottom of the Very Good ARs, and unless its damage profile improves at range, it tends to be harder to justify over the faster options.
LMGs Worth Watching
Two LMGs crack the top 10:
- Mk. 78 — 276ms close-range TTK
- Sokol 545 — 338ms close-range TTK
The Mk. 78's 276ms TTK matches the Peacekeeper Mk1 and beats every AR except the AK-27 and Maddox RFB. For players willing to deal with LMG handling penalties, it offers serious kill speed. Its Long Range build features the Redwell Shade-X Suppressor, MFS Heatshield Belt Fed magazine, Trailblaze Grip, and Shock Shield Stock — a suppressed setup with what appears to be an extended/belt-fed magazine for sustained pressure.
The Sokol 545 at 338ms is slower but runs an interesting MFS 48-Dread Burst Mod in the Fire Mods slot, suggesting a burst-fire conversion that may perform differently than its raw TTK suggests depending on accuracy.
Marksman Rifle: M34 Novaline
The M34 Novaline is the lone marksman rifle in the Very Good bracket with a 550ms close-range TTK. That number looks steep next to the ARs, but marksman rifles aren't designed to win CQB sprint-outs. Its Long Range build — Greaves A-762 muzzle, 15" Cyclops-03 Barrel, MFS Enhance-32 Handstop, Cougar Draw Grip, and Bolt Carrier Group — is clearly tuned for ranged precision. In the right lanes, it likely competes on a completely different axis than the automatic weapons listed here.
Key Takeaways
- The meta is flat. With only 2 Meta-tier weapons and 20 in Very Good, weapon diversity is high. There's no single oppressive pick right now.
- 261ms is the TTK to beat. The AK-27 and Maddox RFB share the fastest close-range kill time among top weapons.
- The EGRT-17 and DS20 Mirage are the consistent mid-tier picks at 296–297ms — reliable without being flashy.
- The Mk. 78 LMG quietly matches AR-tier TTK at 276ms and is worth considering for players who can manage the mobility trade-off.
- Buffer Spring is everywhere. It appears in 5 of the 10 top builds, making it arguably the single most important Fire Mods attachment in the current meta.
