The AS VAL sits in the Good tier on our meta tier list — a high-RPM assault rifle that hits hard up close and still tracks targets at range thanks to 715 m/s bullet velocity. Here's how to build it.

| Slot | Attachment | |---|---| | Barrel | Suppressed Gain-Twist Barrel | | Underbarrel | Vertical Foregrip | | Magazine | Extended Mag II | | Stock | Balanced Stock | | Fire Mods | Recoil Springs |
The priority list here is straightforward: fix the 20-round magazine, tame the 38.35 units of vertical recoil, and keep the gun moving.
- Extended Mag II is non-negotiable. Twenty rounds at 896 RPM runs dry in roughly 1.3 seconds of continuous fire — that's barely enough to down one fully-plated opponent. The extended mag gives you the capacity for follow-up fights and squad wipes.
- Suppressed Gain-Twist Barrel keeps you off the minimap while contributing to bullet velocity, supporting the AS VAL's already strong 715 m/s base.
- Vertical Foregrip and Recoil Springs work together to pull the recoil pattern tighter. At 38.35 units of vertical recoil, the AS VAL climbs noticeably during sustained fire; both attachments address this directly.
- Balanced Stock rounds out the build with movement and ADS stability, complementing the 230ms ADS time that's already fast for an AR.
Damage & TTK Breakdown
The AS VAL has three distinct damage ranges:
| Range | Head | Chest / Stomach / Legs | |---|---|---| | 0–19m | 27 | 22 | | 19.1–43.2m | 23 | 19 | | 43.2m+ | 19 | 16 |
- Close range TTK: 402ms — competitive for an AR, though dedicated SMGs will still out-duel you inside 10 metres. The 22 damage to the body means you need 12 shots to break 250 HP plates, and at 896 RPM those 12 shots take roughly 402ms to land after the first bullet.
- Long range TTK: 603ms — the damage drops to 16 per body shot beyond 43 metres, pushing the shots-to-kill significantly higher. You can still challenge at range thanks to the velocity, but expect to need sustained, accurate bursts.
The head multiplier is worth noting: 27 damage inside 19 metres versus 22 to the body. Mixing in headshots can shave meaningful time off the close-range TTK.
Strengths & Weaknesses
What works:
- 896 RPM fire rate delivers fast, forgiving output — miss a bullet or two and you recover quickly
- 715 m/s bullet velocity means minimal lead on moving targets, even at mid-range
- 230ms ADS is snappy for the AR class
What doesn't:
- 20-round base magazine is the defining limitation; Extended Mag II is essentially a mandatory pick, eating one of your five attachment slots
- Vertical recoil at 38.35 units requires at least one recoil-focused attachment to stay competitive past 30 metres
- Body TTK at long range (603ms) falls behind harder-hitting ARs that deal more damage per bullet
How It Compares
The AS VAL competes with several ARs in the Good-to-Very Good tier range:
- AK-27 (Very Good tier) — a tier above and likely offers better raw lethality at range. If you're deciding between the two, compare the stats side by side.
- ABR A1 (Good tier) — burst-fire alternative with a very different feel. See the direct comparison with ABR A1 for the full stat breakdown.
- AK-74 and AMES 85 both sit in the Good tier alongside the AS VAL and are worth exploring on our AR category page.

Very GoodWho Should Use It
The AS VAL suits players who value fire rate and velocity over raw per-shot damage. It's a versatile mid-range primary that can flex into close-quarters when needed, but it doesn't replace a true SMG and it won't outgun precision rifles at extreme distance. If you like to keep engagements between 10 and 40 metres and you hit your shots consistently, the AS VAL rewards that playstyle.
