Black Ops Royale: A Tactical Tour of Avalon
With Black Ops Royale now live, it's time to get familiar with Avalon — the map powering this Blackout-inspired mode in Call of Duty: Warzone. The map features new traversal opportunities and enhanced visual clarity compared to the Avalon map found in Black Ops 7 Endgame. From rolling golf course hillsides and ancient excavation sites to a lavish casino and sizeable coastal defenses, there's a lot of ground to cover.
A free interactive Tac-Atlas is also available from Call of Duty for a comprehensive overview of every area of interest.
Let's break down each zone and its major points of interest.
Zone 1: Northwest
Golf Club
An homage to the Hazard multiplayer map from the original Black Ops, the Golf Club sits atop a hill with the elegant Champ Green clubhouse commanding the main grounds. The course slopes gently downhill toward Trinity Station and the Casino, with a stop at the Tennis Club on the way to Residences up north. Plenty of tree cover and rolling hills make this a solid spot to loot early without too much pressure. If you get caught out on the green, sand traps can serve as quick cover.
Residences
This suburban area features extensive roads branching through the neighborhood, making it ideal for vehicle play with road access to the Golf Club, Casino, and Winery. Homes and commercial buildings line both sides of a river, with supporting POIs like the Tennis Club and Azure Pine — a scenic estate high up the northern mountain.
Trinity Stadium
One of the major landmarks in the northwest zone, Trinity Stadium is listed as a key POI in the area.
Casino
The Casino rounds out the northwest cluster of points of interest, sitting downhill from the Golf Club and connected to the broader road network.
High Town
High Town completes Zone 1's roster of named locations in the northwest portion of Avalon.
Zone 2: Northeast
Winery
Accessible via roads from Residences, the Winery is a notable POI in Avalon's northeast sector.
Resorts
The Resorts area provides another landing option in the northeast quadrant of the map.
Excavation Site
Ancient excavations mark this POI as one of the more unique locations on Avalon, offering a distinct environment compared to the map's urban and coastal areas.
Colosseum
A historic structure that serves as a key landmark in the northeast zone.
Zone 3: Southwest Coast
Coastal Security
Part of Avalon's sizeable coastal defenses, Coastal Security anchors the southwest shoreline.
Firing Range
Located along the southwest coast, the Firing Range is one of several military-themed POIs in this zone.
Fort
The Fort adds to the defensive infrastructure along Avalon's southwestern edge.
Listening Post
Rounding out Zone 3, the Listening Post is the final major POI on the southwest coast.
Zone 4: South Central
Low Town
Low Town anchors the south-central area of the map, likely offering dense urban engagements.
Pier District
Situated in south-central Avalon, the Pier District provides waterfront gameplay opportunities.
Heliport
The Heliport serves as a key POI in the south-central zone.
Chop Shop
Chop Shop rounds out Zone 4's named locations.
Zone 5: East and Southeast
Cliff Town
One of Avalon's historic towns, Cliff Town is a major POI on the eastern side of the map.
Water Treatment
This industrial POI sits in the east/southeast section of Avalon.
Car Factory
Another industrial landmark in Zone 5, the Car Factory offers its own tactical considerations.
Old Arsenal
The Old Arsenal closes out the named POIs on Avalon's eastern and southeastern edge.
Final Notes
Avalon is packed with variety — urban neighborhoods, coastal military installations, historic landmarks, and open terrain all coexist on a single map. Between the 21+ named POIs spread across five zones, there are plenty of minor points of interest scattered throughout as well. Study the Tac-Atlas and get a feel for the terrain before your first infil.
