The KSV is a high-velocity SMG that hits hard up close but needs the right attachments to manage its vertical recoil and sluggish ADS. Here's the build that gets it there.

| Slot | Attachment | |---|---| | Muzzle | Compensator | | Barrel | Long Barrel | | Underbarrel | Vertical Foregrip | | Magazine | Extended Mag II | | Rear Grip | Ergonomic Grip |
This build is built around one goal: taming the KSV's 49.74 units of vertical recoil while keeping it viable past its first damage drop-off.
Why These Attachments
Compensator (Muzzle)
The KSV's biggest liability is its vertical recoil. The Compensator directly addresses that, making follow-up shots at 10–15m far more consistent. Without a recoil-control muzzle, the KSV's kick pattern pulls hard enough to lose headshots after the first few rounds.
Long Barrel
With a native bullet velocity of 510m/s — already high for an SMG — the Long Barrel pushes the KSV's effective range further. This matters because the damage profile drops sharply at 12.7m (from 26 to 21 chest damage) and again at 19.7m (down to 15). Extending the first damage range even slightly keeps the 375ms TTK relevant in more engagements.
Vertical Foregrip (Underbarrel)
Doubling down on recoil control. Between the Compensator and Vertical Foregrip, the KSV becomes significantly easier to track targets with at full auto. For an 800 RPM fire rate, that recoil management is non-negotiable if you want consistent kills rather than lucky ones.
Extended Mag II (Magazine)
The base 30-round magazine is serviceable for 1v1s, but Warzone regularly throws multi-enemy situations at you. Extended Mag II gives you the ammo to squad-wipe without reloading, which matters when the KSV's 375ms TTK means you're burning through rounds fast at 800 RPM.
Ergonomic Grip (Rear Grip)
At 220ms, the KSV's ADS speed is slow for an SMG. The Ergonomic Grip helps recover some of that snap, which is critical for an aggressive close-range playstyle. You'll still lose the ADS race against faster SMGs like the C9 if you're not pre-aiming, but this closes the gap enough to keep the KSV competitive.
KSV Damage Breakdown
| Range | Head | Chest / Stomach / Legs | |---|---|---| | 0–12.7m | 32 | 26 | | 12.7–19.7m | 26 | 21 | | 19.7–31.8m | 18 | 15 | | 31.8m+ | 16 | 13 |
The KSV's close-range TTK of 375ms is competitive among SMGs, but the steep damage falloff means it climbs to 825ms at longer distances. This gun is purpose-built for fights inside 20m — beyond that, you're better off switching to a primary AR or marksman rifle.
Strengths and Weaknesses
What the KSV does well:
- 510m/s bullet velocity is unusually high for an SMG, reducing the need to lead targets at mid-range
- 375ms close-range TTK is reliable enough for aggressive pushes
- 800 RPM fire rate is forgiving if you miss a shot or two
Where it struggles:
- 220ms ADS is slow for its class — you need to pre-aim more than with other SMGs
- 49.74 vertical recoil requires at least two recoil-control attachments to manage
- Damage drops off hard past 12.7m, making it a poor choice for extended range fights
How It Compares
The KSV is rated Very Good in our meta tier list, putting it alongside the C9 and Carbon 57. It outranks the AMR9 and BAS-P, both rated Good. If you're choosing between the KSV and AMR9, the KSV's higher bullet velocity and tighter close-range TTK give it the edge — you can compare with AMR9 for a full side-by-side breakdown.
KSV
GoodAMR9
GoodThe C9 is the closest competitor in the same tier. It tends to offer faster handling, but the KSV's bullet velocity advantage means it's more consistent when enemies are moving laterally or at the outer edge of SMG range.
How to Play the KSV
This is a push-and-clear weapon. The aggressive playstyle it suits best means you should be:
- Pre-aiming corners — the 220ms ADS punishes reactive play
- Fighting inside 12.7m whenever possible — that first damage range is where the KSV earns its keep
- Pairing it with a long-range primary — the damage falloff is too steep to use this as a flex weapon
The KSV rewards players who control engagement distance. Force fights indoors or around cover, and the TTK does the rest.
Final Verdict
The KSV isn't the fastest-handling SMG in Warzone, but once you build around its recoil and ADS weaknesses, it becomes a reliable close-range option with unusually high bullet velocity for its class. Check the full stats on the KSV weapon page, or browse more builds in our loadout guides.
